Our values
Approach
Skall Studio is founded on some strong values, and we have always had a wish to be a change maker within our industry. For this reason, it is essential to us to keep challenging ourselves and at the same time stay true to our values. Learn more about our Skall values below.

Natural fibres
We only work with natural materials such as wool, cotton and linen. We love the beauty of natural fibres which are also known for their many great properties. Also, these fibres are breathable and don´t shed microplastic.
Mono-materials
Almost all our styles are made in mono-materials. We prefer to work with mono-materials – materials that are composed of a single fibre – as it is easier to recycle these fibres.
Animal Welfare
We feel obliged to speak on behalf of the animals. For that reason, we never use fur and leather in our collections, just as the Skall sisters are vegetarians and do not own any fur and leather products. When we use the wool from the Danish sheep at Hjelholt Spinning Mill, we see the sheep as partners. For further info, we refer to our animal welfare policy which we will be happy to share on request.
Craftsmanship
Craftsmanship is essential to us. When we support craftsmanship around the world, we contribute to keeping these unique crafts alive and at the same time support cultures with strong historical roots. Living in a globalized world, we see this as crucial – from our signature knitwear made in Denmark to our collaborations with Indian weavers.
Made to last
Skall Studio pieces are made to last, both in terms of design and quality. And we are known for our classic approach – because a classic piece will last season after season.
Less is enough
We design for a wardrobe that is made to last and prefer to have a small wardrobe with classic pieces in a good quality. Because less is enough – and because we believe fewer choices make life easier and contribute to a life in greater balance.
Skall Family
Skall Studio is a family run brand, founded by the sisters Julie and Marie Skall. Both sisters have big families that are closely intertwined, and they know the strength of strong family ties. It is also reflected to our suppliers as we prefer to work with and support small family run businesses whenever possible as we share many of the same values.

Working conditions
Close relationships with our suppliers are at the core of our work, and we always visit our factories. We believe in an open and respectful approach to everyone we collaborate with. Our partnerships are based on mutual respect, and we encourage our suppliers to act even more responsibly over time. We are GOTS certified, and several of our suppliers are as well. For more information, please refer to our Code of Conduct, which ensures that all parties operate according to the same values, terms, and conditions.
Sourcing
To avoid unnecessary transport, we prefer to source our fabrics in the same country as they are produced in whenever possible.
Certifications
We are GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard), and our main suppliers are GOTS-certified as well. In fact, 90% of our cotton styles are GOTS-certified. It provides us with a transparent supply chain which makes us able to trace and document each step in the production. From fibers to final product. Look for the GOTS-logo in the care label and hang tag of our cotton styles – or look for GOTS in the individual product descriptions on our website. Besides our Danish wool, our wool is either Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified or GOTS-certified.
Packaging
Orders are always wrapped in FSC™ certified tissue paper and delivered in FSC™ certified paper bags or in FSC™ certified cardboard boxes.
